The recent wildfires devastated the beautiful countryside and brought tragic results to families and homes in North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, both states where Renfro employees call home. The North Carolina fires burned more than 55,000 acres and are now mostly contained. In Tennessee, the fires forced over 14,000 families to evacuate their homes leaving 1,413 structures either damaged or completely destroyed. People and equipment fighting the Gatlinburg fire alone numbered 19 crews, 47 engines, 6 helicopters and 5 dozers. Renfro has coordinated sending 910 pairs of socks to firefighters in Buncombe, Burke, Clay and Graham Counties in North Carolina and 420 pairs to Sevier County, Tennessee (Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge). Our thanks go out to these brave individuals and we hope their mission is complete very soon.
