Renfro Corporate Office employees participated in the awareness campaign on National Wear Red Day® which was Friday, February 3, 2017 by wearing red.
Why Go Red? Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. Fortunately, we have the power to change that because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action. Our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends are at risk.
For the event, Renfro’s Wellness Committee invited Northern Surry Hospital onsite who took free blood pressure screenings and offered additional education about heart health. The committee also made up small bags of heart candies and sold them for $1 which raised $111 which was donated to The American Heart Association.
