The United Fund of Surry County recognized the Mount Airy NC employees of Renfro at their annual awards luncheon with their top award, the Pat Woltz Way-to-Glow Award. Todd Tucker, who chaired the 2016-17 fundraising campaign, presented the award and indicated that employees at Renfro raised almost $47,000 toward the $450,000 goal. Tucker spoke of Renfro as being “irreplaceable” in the Mount Airy community and complimented the company by saying “this company does great work in the community, and they are a great asset to the community.” This year’s United Fund campaign met the overall community goal of $450,000, which provides funding to 26 local agencies.
At the same function, Renfro Vice President of Human Resources, Dave Green, was presented with a new award. Appropriately, Green was the inaugural recipient of the “Dave Green Achievement Award.” Tucker indicated that Dave started working at Renfro in 2002, and immediately took the reins of the company’s United Fund campaign. He went on to say that under Green’s leadership, Renfro employees have contributed more than $700,000 to the United Fund. Green has also been a United Fund fundraising campaign chair and has served as president of the organization’s board of directors. Green, however, called his receiving the Dave Green Achievement Award a “gigantic mistake.” “This should go to all of the people at Renfro who have donated,” added Green. Congratulations to Dave and to all of the Renfro employees who participate in this community effort!
