Renfro’s manufacturing facility in Cleveland, Tennessee is one of the more colorful factories in the Renfro line up, due to about 1,600 active components of yarn that are used to make the performance footwear produced there.
Most manufacturers have about 40 components of yarn and run about 1,000 dozen per lot. Because the brands made in Cleveland are high-end and retail anywhere from $14 to $40 per pair, lots run anywhere from 25 to 200 dozen. About 50 percent of the machines are changed out each week to accommodate the wide variety of footwear produced in Cleveland.
