K. Bell

K. BELL was founded in 1979 by Karen Bell. An entrepreneurial designer from Gloucester,
Massachusetts, Karen possessed a passion for fashion and sought to utilize her talents by
creating fun fashionable legwear. Improvements in technology allowed Karen to realize her
vision at a time when hosiery was exploding in popularity. Karen’s early years in business
drew her to the factories of North Carolina and she quickly gained a reputation as one of
the leading designers in the trade.

K. BELL’s strong management team developed a growth strategy focused on leveraging
design capabilities to the retail chain markets. This allowed K. BELL to evolve from a
speciality design base into a diverse supplier of branded and private label products.
Supporting its growth, management developed an efficient sourcing platform to maximize
inventory turns to grow the business exponentially. This transformation was
enhanced in 2004 when The Compass Group took an equity position supporting further
growth. In late 2010, the company was acquired by Renfro Corporation. Located in North
Carolina, Renfro ranks as one of the largest global sock companies in the world.

Successful partnerships have been built across all tiers of distribution, which include
department stores, mass, large chain, and speciality retailers. K. BELL Black Label, Sport,
Private Label, and Licensed Brands are distributed to all tiers of retailers throughout the
country. The success of K. BELL includes meticulous attention toward quality and service.
